Our History
The Original Baumann's Swiss Chalet
Kurt Baumann, a Swiss immigrant came to Lake Tahoe and started the Swiss Chalet in 1957. There he met Ruth and married in 1960. They had three sons, Peter, Ralph and Mark.
It was a fine dining Swiss restaurant and was famous for their Swiss salad dressing and food.
In 2014 the Swiss Chalet closed their doors, but our customers still wanted the salad dressing. So, Peter and his family, Janet and Erich decided to still make the Famous Swiss Chalet Salad Dressing, to the delight of their loyal customers.
It is available at S. Lake Tahoe's locals farmers market and specialty food stores around Lake Tahoe, as well as online.
